The Unhurried Life
A Little Less Scrolling. A Little More Living.
Somewhere along the way, I think we forgot how to just enjoy being.
Not every minute of our day needs to be productive. Not every quiet moment needs to be filled. And we certainly don't need to spend every spare minute looking at a screen.
I remember when finding something to do meant getting a little creative. We played games around the kitchen table, went outside just to see what we could find, picked up hobbies simply because they looked interesting, and sometimes spent an entire afternoon doing absolutely nothing important.
And you know what? Those were often the best days.
I'm not suggesting we need to go backward or give up the conveniences of modern life. I love a good Google search as much as anyone. But I do think there's something worth rediscovering in the way we used to spend our time.
That's where The Unhurried Life comes in.
A Little More of What Matters
The Unhurried Life is a growing collection of digital stories, activities, games, and everyday adventures created to help us reconnect with the simple pleasures that often get overlooked.
Some are meant to be shared with family and friends. Others are for those afternoons when you have a little time to yourself and want to do something besides scroll through social media.
You'll find things like:
-
Stories & Reflections: Short reads, personal experiences, and thoughtful perspectives that invite you to see everyday life a little differently.
-
Gather & Play: Family games, conversation starters, and activities that bring people together without complicated rules or expensive supplies.
-
Explore & Discover: Nature walks, seasonal scavenger hunts, and little adventures that encourage you to get outside and notice the world around you.
-
A Little Time for Yourself: Creative activities, quiet pastimes, and simple ways to enjoy your own company.
-
Traditions & Celebrations: Holiday activities, seasonal ideas, and meaningful ways to make memories throughout the year.
-
Journals & Guides: Thoughtful prompts and simple resources for reflection, creativity, and everyday living.
Nothing here is meant to become another obligation on your calendar.
Pick what interests you. Skip what doesn't. Come back whenever you feel like it.
Why I Created The Unhurried Life
After more than two decades of working for myself, I know how easy it is to fall into the habit of always doing something.
There's always another task, another project, another reason to stay busy. And when you finally have a few minutes to yourself, it's surprisingly easy to spend them scrolling through a phone without even realizing how much time has passed.
I've also learned that slowing down doesn't necessarily mean sitting still.
Sometimes it means trying something new, getting your hands dirty in the garden, laughing through a ridiculous family game, taking a walk without a destination, or finally making time for something you've wanted to learn.
It means giving yourself permission to enjoy life without needing every moment to accomplish something.
That's what I want this collection to encourage.
Not a perfect routine. Not a carefully curated lifestyle. Just more opportunities to be present, have fun, reconnect, and enjoy the life you're already living.

Something New Is Coming
The Unhurried Life is currently taking shape here at Winterberry Hearth.
Our first collections will focus on gathering around the table, exploring the world close to home, and rediscovering the simple pleasure of spending an afternoon doing something just for yourself.
I'm excited to share them with you as they're ready.
Until then, I hope you'll remember something:
You don't have to fill every moment to make it meaningful.
Sometimes the best memories begin when we put down the phone, step away from the to-do list, and see where the afternoon takes us.
Welcome to The Unhurried Life.
